19.06.04 KALUGA: A MEETING IN DEFENSE OF THE CITIZENS’ SOCIAL RIGHTS The 17 June Kaluga’s nazbols together with the RKSM (b), RDP Yabloko and the Working Russia carried out an action in defense of the citizens’ social rights near the building of the regional Legislative Council. One of the action’s organizers was the famous activist, the legislative council deputy Tatyana Kotlyar.
During the meeting we touched the problems of violation of Russia’s citizens’ rights related to the adoption of the new Work Code (according to it an employer has the right to fire a worker, without paying attention to the workers union and even less so paying a salary), the new Housing code and the projected modifications in the clause 292 of the RF Civil code (those registered in an apartment will not have the rights to it, which will cause the rise of the numbers of homeless people and waifs), and also the much-talked-of project of replacement of the in-kind benefits on penny-worth compensations that humiliate out elderly people.
By the end of the meeting a resolution and demands were sent to the governor of Kaluga’s region.
