Notice this is not a poll, so I want good answers.
I don't know if Russia will ever be communist again. It is falling towards authoritarianism now, and I was thinking that maybe a form of Communism (political, economical, or both) could rise agian.
Please give me your opinions.
Also, if so, how will this be accomplished? Military coups? Popular revolution? Democratic means?
And if not, why not?

The second principle of modern communism says that it is impossible for Communism to work because of human nature.
Q: Why not?
A: Human nature.
If everyone were perfect I am sure that I would be a strong Communist supporter.

As for the question, I do believe that Communism as a political system could return via either democratic election or people's revolt.
I just don't see Red tanks rolling through Moscow. Sorry.

Animagus is right. Great points on the economic failures of Communism. Communism was actually founded as an economic system. And it failed. But who wants to live under dictatorial rule? This is where I disagree with PG4 and say that a Communist political society is not ideal. So no, to Red's q. And btw, some people like their moms' apple pie!  |

Great points on the economic failures of Communism. I disagree. Just because Communism failed in Russia's case doesn't mean that communism in general is a failure. Look at Cuba and its economy. But it wasn't implemented until Lenin, who believed in a strong centralized government. Hence Leninism. Hence the failure of Leninism. Nobody, usually. Of course, you cannot overlook the fact that some people don't want to live under one but do. It doesn't have to be a North Korea to be Communist. Even the Time Almanac 2005 describes NK's gov as being a "one-man dictatorship." It doesn't even have to be a Kruschevist government, having just enough hold as to not fall off. As to Red's question, I say yes but only through democratic means. The only "people's revolution" would probably spawn off the NBP, who aren't really Communist. |

The NBP are Communist. If you think that just because a group is too nationalist for you that you refuse to admit it's Communist, that's one-sided and closed-minded.
Yes, there will be a revolution in Russia and Communism will once again prevail!

I admit that human nature rather obstructs the good purposes of Communism but you have to admit it isn't all bad. I'm sure that most wouldn't. Not with Cold War brainwashings or Stalin. Really uncalled for. Just because nobody's really accepted the principles doesn't mean they're untrue. Any Communist with a brain accepts some form of those two principles. It has nothing to do with their upbringing. I have never met a Capitalist with this view. Of course it does. But only when it is misapplied does the economic factor of Communism turn sour. Let's not go into that. Jungol overused it already. If this was preceded by Animagus' line about human nature it would have been perfectly true. PG4 has a point. Look at Russia today. Enough said. It depends on what the people are used to, really. Animagus is right. Great points on the economic failures of Communism. Read the Manifesto carefully. It doesn't just throw a concrete idea out there to try and follow. It is the outline of an entire system. But keep in mind that Marx pictured a society in which there is no need for government. How could it? It was never implemented. Some people do. Not many, but I personally know two who weren't joking. As for my opinion, I would say that any of the three means would probably stimulate Communism in Russia. But as for probability, I'd put democratic action at the top, followed closely by a popular revolution. |

Of course you do. Well it doesn't prove it works. And you'll see a failure and a human rights violator to boot. Why do you think it took almost a century to be implemented? Lenin was a bald dumbass. That would have been better in place of your last quote. The exception is when people smoke dope. Like in your great example of Cuba.  |
